YOUNG ATHLETES
The Lives of Young Athletes can be Immensely Rewarding—and Stressful
It’s exciting for young athletes to be involved in sports and school while planning for a promising future.
However, with competing academic, sports, social and familial demands, it’s understandable that many young athletes can become overwhelmed, which can lead to:
Anxiety and self-doubt
Loss of focus
Reduced self-confidence
Lower performance in multiple areas
I help young athletes learn how to focus their minds and better channel their energy
Tough Mind Mental Coaching helps young athletes overcome obstacles on and off the sports field, identify priorities and efficiently expend their time and energy while balancing crucial but competing demands.
The mental strength techniques are empowering, inspiring and, most importantly, deliver results quickly. This enables young athletes to enjoy one of the most exciting times in their lives.
Mental Strength Success Stories
Maximizing Performance When It Matters Most
This basketball player, age 16, received a coveted invitation to participate in a tournament in Brooklyn’s Jordan Brand Challenge. However, the 100+ scouts attending the event caused him to experience debilitating stress. In just six hours of training, I helped him develop and practice mental strength strategies to block the outside noise and focus on delivering a stellar performance. At the tournament, he scored an impressive 17 points with seven rebounds!
Gaining A Mental Strength Mindset
This soccer player, age 19, was the U-19 Captain of a Bundesliga team and he set a goal of being part of the first team. However, when coaches asked him to change his style of play from possession football, which he enjoyed, to sending long balls forward, he viewed this as “ugly football,” which he disdained. I worked with him to realize that “all balls are beautiful long balls” if he hits the mark. With his mental strength mindset, he thrived on this team and reached his goal of spending most of the second half of the season practicing with the first team!
Using Mental Strength To Reach Goals
This soccer player, age 17, was a winger delivering impressive performances until he experienced a sharp decline on the field and in school. When he stopped socializing and kept to himself, I was asked to help. I recognized that he felt increasingly insecure as he advanced and played against bigger, stronger defenders. In response, I helped him focus on his tremendous speed, technique and, importantly, his ability to outrun other players. By embracing this mental strength philosophy, he became a U-19 national team player and then played in the Youth Champions League!
